PROBLEM
Create a personal website from scratch using HTML and CSS. The website could reflect your interests, hobbies, background, or experiences.
SOLUTION

I noticed a gap in the market for a platform of very simple and quick meals that the average uni student could cook. As I embarked on my journey of learning HTML and CSS, I designed a website of recipes for the average broke college student. I mapped the flow of my site to decide how many and what pages to include, and created a mockup of each page in Figma to plan out each element. [INSERT WEBSITE MAP]

I moved from Figma into writing my HTML and CSS, implementing URLs to external websites and an email link. I also incorporated images complete with image attributes, and an HTML table. Implementing crucial design principles such as colour, white space, and composition, I ensured that my website was visually accessible (good contrast between colours but not so much that it would cause eye strain in the user, etc). I chose to use a positive tone and informal language for my text to connect with the target demographic of college students who value simplicity and authenticity.
RETROSPECTIVE
As I continue to hone my expertise in HTML and CSS and gain new skills in JavaScript, I plan to augment my site with JavaScript and release higher fidelity iterations (with added awesome recipes for broke college students). Stay tuned! I'd also like to integrate more UI elements e.g. augmenting the current link state styling with cool hover/click effects, text animations, and implement responsive design (resizeable, scalable) with a redesign for mobile.
